Steve Jobs and Adobe have been at war over Flash for some time, most noticeably with Apple banning Flash from the iPhone/iPad environment.

One of the reasons I prefer to develop using Java (also banned from the iPhone/iPad) is that it is cross-platform. My belief is to let the user choose the most appropriate platform for their needs, and not have the developer dictate this. It also makes sense for the developer as it maximizes the potential market.
