I received a newsletter from Michael Danby lauding Conroy as a visionary, which was just a bit to much to take.

The Chair of the Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on Migration, Mr Michael Danby MP, today said; “Overall this report will make for a more efficient, more transparent and more compassionate visa consideration process, in particular for people with a disability or people who have a family member with a disability. Equally, it will also assist the national interest in preventing Australia losing key skilled workers who are unsuccessful or deterred in applying for migration because they have a disabled family member”.

This really was to much. After several letters objecting to Conroy’s flawed filter, now he is a visionary. So my response was (and after all Danby asked for feedback)

I would like to know your position on Senator Stephen Conroy’s visionary plans for the expansion of internet censorship in Australia?
I have been an IT professional for over twenty years and know far more about the internet than Conroy ever will (Spam in the Portals anyone?). Conroy’s filter will not stop pedophiles from posing as a 14 year old to groom the girls at Caulfield Junior College. And it should block Rebiya Kadeer (China says that she is a terrorist). I believe that this proposal is a waste of resources that would be better used by the various enforcement agencies to actually catch criminals rather than trying to block access to the internet for lawful citizens.
By the way I am already using strong encryption and VPN via the USA where their Bill of Rights prevents this sort of nonsense.
