Net filter laws haven’t even been drafted yet

The proposed Mandatory Internet Filter legislation has not yet been drafted.

Given the current legislative back log in the Senate and the likely timing of the next federal election, it is unlikely that the Internet Filter laws will be passed by this parliament. This means that there should be plenty of opportunity to present the case against this to the politicians at a time when they are most sensitive – just before and during an election campaign.

The whole proposal continues to go from one farce to the next with Conroy trying to convince the Americans that they should follow his lead.

At least they have First Amendment rights that would prevent this nonsense happening there (unlike Australia that does not have a Bill of Rights).
